Sending an Angel Wing shirt to an abused or neglected child is a great way to send a message of positive reinforcement to those that need love and support the most.  The following is a story of a little girl that received a shirt last year from an advocate through one of Austin’s wonderful agencies.

Elizabeth's Story:

Elizabeth was handed her beautifully wrapped Christmas gift from her advocate.  She excitedly opened her present and pulled out a red angel wing thermal t-shirt.  She smiled the second she saw the shiny metallic silver wings.  She noticed the tag on the shirt and asked her advocate to please read it to her as she was just learning to read.  

After hearing the message on the tag, Elizabeth smiled and asked her advocate, “Who sent this to me?”.   She was told that the shirt was sent to her by someone that has never met her, but believes in her and thinks that she is special. Elizabeth asked the advocate, “A stranger likes me?  But my mom and dad don’t even like me.  They said I was a burden and that no one would like me.” The advocate gladly told Elizabeth that her parents were wrong, and that the world was full of people that want the best for her and truly believe in her.
